Driving Directions Plano, TX

CONTACT US

Driving to Plano, TX is pretty straightforward because the city is built around a few major corridors: US-75 (Central Expressway), the Dallas North Tollway, the President George Bush Turnpike (PGBT), and the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SH 121). Your exact best route depends on whether you’re headed to East Plano (closer to US-75) or West Plano (closer to the Tollway), so it helps to pick your destination first.

From Dallas, the simplest move is heading north on US-75 into Plano, especially if you’re coming from downtown or East Dallas. If you’re coming from North Dallas or prefer a toll route that can be smoother depending on the day, take the Dallas North Tollway north and exit into Plano on the west side.

From Fort Worth (and Arlington), most routes funnel you east toward Dallas first. A common approach is I-30 east, then connect to either I-635 (to reach US-75 north) or use PGBT as an east–west connector before turning north into Plano via US-75 or the Dallas North Tollway.

From Denton and other points north/northwest, take I-35E south to connect with either SH 121 (Sam Rayburn Tollway) or PGBT, then continue east toward Plano and exit based on your final stop. These tollways are useful “cross-town” options when you’re trying to avoid cutting through surface streets.

From regional metros like Austin/Waco (via I-35 north), Houston (via I-45 north), or Oklahoma City (via I-35 south), you’ll typically enter the Dallas area first, then use PGBT or I-635 to connect to US-75 or the Dallas North Tollway for the final run into Plano. Keep in mind that DFW rush-hour congestion can be heavy on major connectors, such as I-30, US-75, and I-635, so a quick ETA check right before you leave is worthwhile.
